(00:00) hey friends tony here from tl yarn crafts and i'm excited to share the beautifully delicate lattice stitch with you today if you're excited to learn this tunisian crochet stitch with me be sure to like this video and consider subscribing to my channel for even more crochet tutorials free patterns and product reviews for this tutorial i'm using a six and a half millimeter tunisian crochet hook and worsted weight yarn the lattice stitch can be worked over any odd number of stitches and for my sample i'm working over

(00:28) 19 stitches so we'll start by chaining 19 begin with a slip knot place that on the hook tighten it down yarn over pull up a loop for one 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 and 19. from here we're going to flip our chain over and we're going to find these little bumps on the back of our chain and that's what we'll work into so we're going to skip the first chain go to the second chain insert our hook under the bump yarn over and pull up a loop we're just going to leave that loop on our hook insert under the next bump

(01:29) yarn over pull up a loop insert under the next bump yarn over pull up a loop and we'll repeat that for each chain down the line insert under the bump yarn over pull up a loop insert yarn over pull up a loop and by the end you'll know you've done it correctly if you have the same number of loops on your hook as you did with your starting chain so you're gonna insert yarn over pull up a loop insert yarn over pull up a loop just a few more here and then we'll give it a quick count come on there we go all right so let's give a quick count

(02:23) just to make sure we've got the right number of loops 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 and 19 and then we're going to do the return pass of our foundation row so we're going to start with a chain one yarn over pull through just one loop on your hook and then from here we're going to yarn over and pull through the next two loops on our hook yarn over pull through two yarn over pull through two yarn over pull through two we're going to repeat that until we have just one loop left on our hook yarn over pull through two yarn over

(03:10) pull through two yarn over pull through two yarn over pull through two and that's our foundation for the first row of the lattice stitch we're going to do a tunisian simple stitch two together so this first loop on our hook counts as our first stitch so we're going to skip this first vertical bar and find our next two vertical bars which are right here between my thumbs i'm going to insert my hook under both of those bars yarn over my hook and pull up a loop and now i'm going to tunisian simple stitch the first stitch of that decrease

(03:53) which is this bar here so i'm just going to insert my hook under just that bar yarn over and pull up the loop so now that is complete and we're going to repeat that down the row find our next two bars insert under both of those bars yarn over pull up a loop under both of those bars then find the first of those two bars insert yarn over and pull up a loop find the next two bars insert under both of those bars yarn over pull up the loop insert under the first of those two bars yarn over and pull up a loop insert under two yarn over

(04:49) pull up the loop insert under the first yarn over and pull up a loop we're going to repeat that down the row to our last two stitches insert yarn over pull up the loop find the first loop of the two and pull up a loop insert under two yarn over pull up the loop insert under the first yarn over and pull up the loop now we've got one vertical bar right here and we've got our edge stitch i'm going to tighten down so you can really see what we've got going on here we're going to simple stitch this next vertical bar so just insert

(05:45) yarn over pull up a loop and we're going to work our edge stitch rotate your work towards you and you're going to see two bars here at the edge so you can very clearly see this front vertical bar but right behind it is a back vertical bar so we'll want to insert our hook under both of these bars and that's how we'll make sure we keep nice clean edges on the left side of our work so insert your hook under both of those bars can be a little tricky on this first row here we go i'm under both of the bars yarn over and

(06:20) pull up the loop when you finish this row and all of our rows you should have 19 loops on your hook 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 and 19. and now we'll want to do our return pass so we'll start with a chain one yarn over pull through just one then yarn over pull through two all the way back yarn over through two yarn over through two until you've got one loop left on your hook yarn over through two through two through two two two and our last two so that's what we've got for row two of our work let's move on to row three so with row

(07:25) three we're going to start with one tunisian simple stitch so remember the loop on our hook counts as a stitch so we're skipping this first vertical bardere going to tunisian simple stitch this stitch right here between my thumbs insert under the front vertical bar yarn over pull up a loop now we're going to get back into our tunisian simple stitch two together and then tunisian simple stitch the first of those two so we find our next two vertical bars insert under both of those bars yarn over and pull through both loops and then

(07:58) insert under the first of those two vertical bars yarn over and pull up a loop find the next two vertical bars insert under both of those bars yarn over pull up a loop and then insert under the first of those two bars yarn over and pull up a loop two together and then simple the first of the two two together and then simple the first of the two two together simple the first of the two and we're going to do that until we have just our last stitch left two together simple the first of the two we've got our next two bars here

(09:01) two together simple the first of the two and then we're going to rotate our work towards us find those two loops right here at the top of our row and insert our hook under both of those loops yarn over and pull up a loop to complete the last stitch again we should still have 19 loops on our hook 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 and 19.

(09:36)  okay now we'll want to do our return pass starting with a chain one yarn over pull through two through two through two yarn over pull through two all the way back yarn over pull through two two two two two loops left on my hook yarn over pull through those two so we can see that lattice pattern starting to emerge already let's do those two rows again together so we're repeating rows two and three of the pattern row two starts with a tunisian simple stitch two together this loop on our hook counts as our first stitch so we're skipping this first vertical bar

(10:22) going to the next two vertical bars here insert under both yarn over pull up the loop simple the first of those two stitches insert under the next two vertical bars yarn over pull up the loop and then simple the first of those two stitches tunisian simple stitch two together and then simple the first of the two simple two together simple the first of the two and we're going to repeat that until we have two stitches left find our next two vertical bars insert under both of those bars and then find the first bar of those two

(11:16) and pull up a loop in just that bar two together under the next two stitches simple the first of those two stitches so now i've got two stitches left i've got this vertical bar here and i've got my last stitch i'm going to simple that stitch just on its own rotate my work towards me find those two loops at the top insert under both of those loops yarn over pull up the loop do a count if you need to you should have 19 or however many you started with chain one yarn over pull through two through two all the way back

(12:03) until you've got one loop left on your hook yarn over through two through two and through two and now let's do row three row three starts with a simple stitch on its own so we're going to go into this second vertical bar here insert yarn over pull up a loop just on its own now we're going to go to our two together find our next two vertical bars insert and insert yarn over pull up the loop and then simple the first of the two two together simple the first of the two two together simple the first of the two we're going to repeat that until we have

(13:00) just our last stitch left two together simple the first of the two two together simple the first of the two two together simple the first of the two and then two together simple the first of the two so we've got just our last stitch left i'm going to find those two bars here at the top and insert under both of those bars yarn over pull up the loop followed by a chain one yarn over pull through two through two yarn over pull through two until you have just one loop left on the hook yarn over through two through two
